James Phillip Pruitt

James Phillip Pruitt, of Covington, formerly of Cedartown, GA, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at the age of 82. Mr. Pruitt loved God and his family and was a strong, honest, and humble man and mentor to many. He worked for Covington News starting in 1965, and in 1982, he was a founding partner of Webco Printing. In his spare time, Mr. Pruitt enjoyed traveling with friends, hunting and fishing, and tending to his vegetable garden. In addition, he was an excellent woodworker and could fix anything. Mr. Pruitt loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. You could always count on him, and he was a man of great integrity. Mr. Pruitt was much loved by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Timoth and Evelyn Speight Pruitt; and siblings, Travis Pruitt, Florine Mobley.

Survivors include his loving wife of 33 years, Mary Pruitt; children, Scott Pruitt (Raquel), Keith Pruitt (Michelle), Adam Vanderbunt (Jennifer), Tucker Vanderbunt (Marla), Molly Parrott (Alan); grandchildren, Jennifer Pruitt, Amanda Smith, Kristen Brannon, Taylor Carpenter, Sierra Vardy, Morgan Bozeman, Grace Lee, Mayson Causby, Madison Brown, Gabe Pruitt, Carly Vanderbunt, Hunter Parrott, Zoey Parrott, Emma Pruitt, Ben Harvey, Zach Vanderbunt, Ava Vanderbunt, Maya Vanderbunt; great-grandchildren, Tucker Smith, Audrey Albers, Kate Albers, Lucas Smith, Gaines Brannon; and siblings, Geraldine Crowe, Paula Newman.

A Memorial Service for Mr. Pruitt will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023, 2:00 P.M., at Newton Baptist Church, 720 Jack Neely Road, in Covington, with Pastor Jason Ivey officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the church, one hour prior to his service, from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M.
