Jewell Savage Mullins Hitchcock of Mansfield passed away July 4, 2011 at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle. She was 91 years old at the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Elmer Hitchcock, and her parents, Edward Oliver and Mary Lou (Gunn) Savage. Mrs. Hitchcock was a member of Pine Grove Presbyterian Church and the Pine Grove Ladies' Club for over 60 years. She was a homemaker and dairy farmer alongside her husband, Elmer. Mrs. Hitchcock was a nurturing mother who participated in various school and community organizations.
Mrs. Hitchcock is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Donnie and Gary Moss of Bishop, Jan and Glen Blankenstein of Dahlonega; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Sherry Hitchcock of Mansfield; grandchildren, Steve Moss and wife Lisa, Beth Freeman and husband Ronny, Molly Moss, Katie Blankenstein, Amy Moog and husband Chris, Mindy Whitten and husband Andrew, Chris Conner, Matthew Hitchcock; great-grandchildren, Stephen, Christopher and Michael Moss; Rachel and Gabriel Freeman; Ryan, Luke and Callen Whitten; Madelyn Moog; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Hitchcock will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at the Access Road Chapel of Caldwell and Cowan Funeral Home with Mr. & Mrs. Fred Greer, Jr. officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Tuesday, July 5, from 6 - 8 PM. Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made to the organization of your choice.
