Access RoadJewell Martin, of Lilburn, passed away on January 27, 2013, at the age of 79. She retired from Southern Bell after more than 42 years of service. She was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Brookhaven, Georgia on June 9, 1974 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tucker for 6 years. Mr. and Mrs. Martin were avid square dancers in the Skippers Club. Mrs. Martin was a member of the Southern Bell Pioneers and volunteered for the USO, Bell South Golf Classic, the Peachtree Road Race, Junior Achievement, Juvenile Diabetes, Habitat for Humanity, and Adopt a Highway. They also volunteered at the old Fulton County Stadium and Turner Field. She was also an active member of the Red Hat Society. Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband, D. Woodie Martin; and parents, Charlie and Hettie Arlene (Hollaway) Lankford. Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Charles and Donna Martin of Covington and Roger Martin of Lilburn; 3 grandchildren, Brandi Norris of Covington, Chad and Jennie Martin of Social Circle and Hunter Martin of Kennesaw; 5 great-grandchildren, Collin Norris, Griffin Norris, Masin Norris, Korbin Martin and Addyson Martin; sisters, Blanche Sneed of Cusseta, Elsie Ellington of Conyers and Love Presley of Eatonton; brother and sister-in-law, Gus and Pat Lankford of Eatonton; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Martin will be held Thursday, January 31, 2013, 11:00 AM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Phill Nall officiating, and interment in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery, in Eatonton, at 2:30 PM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wednesday, January 30, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
