Jimmy Lewis Williams, Sr., of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at the age of 82. Mr. Williams loved his Lord and was a deacon at Hydes Chapel for 50 years. He had a servant’s heart, enjoyed helping others, and loved his church family. Married for 65 years, Mr. Williams’ greatest accomplishment was his family. In everything he did, he gave it his all and was a great example to his family. Mr. Williams gave chances to anyone that was willing and never judged. In addition, he enjoyed partaking in his favorite hobby, hunting, whenever he could. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Thomas and Nettie Eura (Swords) Williams.
Survivors include his loving wife, Glenda Williams; daughters, Tammy Jackson, Angie Gaskins; son, Jim Williams, Jr. (Amy); grandchildren, Chasity McCready (Josh), Tiffany Mosley (James), Rusty Jackson, BJ Eidson, Levi Eidson, Summer Smith (Dillon), Trey Williams (Emily), Aimee Taylor (Darryl), Liandrin Williams, Olivia Williams; great-grandchildren, Katie Lohr (Tristan), Savannah Parr (Alex), Tyler Mosley (Hanna), Jimmy Roper (Christel), Adriel Roper, Dani Roper, Bristol Wedgeworth, Wyatt Wedgeworth, Colson Smith, Windsor Massimore; great-great-grandchildren, Braxton Parr, Tilly Lohr, Isla Roper; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Williams will be held Sunday, November 10, 2024, 11:00 A.M., at Hydes Chapel Baptist Church, 1640 West Hightower Trail, in Conyers, with Rev. Ralph Baker, Pastor Allan Burns, and Rev. Billy Sheppard officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park, in Covington. Friends are invited to visit with the family Saturday, November 9, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington. Mr. Williams will lie in state at the church, Sunday, from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M.
