John C. Carver of Oxford, passed away May 20, 2018, at the age of 70. Mr. Carver was a devoted member of Crossroads United Methodist Church where he served on the Trustee Committee. He was a die-hard fan of the Cincinnati Reds and the Georgia Bulldogs. Mr. Carver enjoyed hunting, camping and gardening, and was known as an all-around handyman. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and Papa. Mr. Carver was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Mary Carver; and best friend, Merle Ritter.
Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years, Rachael Carver; son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Julia Carver; grandchildren, Tyler Carver, Davis Carver; sister, Sue TeStrake; uncle, Donald Carver; niece, Ann Gerken; nephew, Todd TeStrake; and his dog, Lexxi Bailey.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Carver will be held Friday, May 25, 2018, 2:00 PM, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, with Rev. Zack Martin officiating. Friends may visit with the family Thursday, May 24, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Leukemia Society of Georgia, 3715 Northside Parkway - Building 400 - Atlanta, GA 30327; or American Cancer Society, 105 Westpark Drive, Suite C, Athens, GA 30606.
