John W. Chapman

John W. Chapman, Sr., of Covington, passed away April 5, 2016, at the age of 85. Mr. Chapman retired from Ford Motor Company after 32 years of service. He was a member of Covington American Legion and had been a member of the Church at Covington for 25 years. Mr. Chapman was preceded in death by his first wife, Geneva Chapman; second wife, Mary Elizabeth Chapman; parents, Edgar Lee and Corine (Hooten) Chapman; and sister, Vernie Dyer.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, John, Jr. and Tonya Chapman of Barnesville, Charles and Gloria Chapman of Covington, A.W. "Tony" and Jill Chapman of Newborn; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Malinda Chapman of Covington; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service for Mr. Chapman will be held Friday, April 8, 2016, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor David Payne officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends may join the family for visitation at the funeral home, Thursday, April 7, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.
