John Harold Cowart

John Harold Cowart of Covington, passed away January 19, 2014, at the age of 84. Mr. Cowart was a veteran of the United States Army, having proudly served his country during the Korean War. His grandson, Michael Frank, is currently serving in Afghanistan as a MedEvac pilot. Mr. Cowart enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, U.C. and Annie Cowart.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Willene Cowart of Covington; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Mary Cowart of Oxford; daughter and son-in-law, Linda Frank Barker and Alan Barker of Conyers; granddaughter, Katie Frank of Atlanta; grandson, Michael and Cheryl Frank; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Frank, all of Denver, CO; his brothers; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services for Mr. Cowart will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2014, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd Street, in Covington, with Pastor Linda Baughtman officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 - 2:00 PM. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association - Georgia Chapter, 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 550, Atlanta, GA 30346.
