John William Woodlee

John William Woodlee, of Covington, passed away October 9, 2015, at the age of 77. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Woodlee was employed by Avon Products for 14 years, then later, together with his wife, owned and operated Woodlee's Christian Child Care, where he was affectionately known as "Papa John". A long-time member of Gaither's United Methodist Church, he at one time was very active in many ministries and offices within the church. He was a former member of the Newton County Gideons, the Conyers Rotary Club and started the Rockdale Rotary Club, serving Presidential terms with all three organizations. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, camping and traveling. Most of all he cherished the time spent with family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Woodlee was preceded in death by his parents, John Clark and Queenie Woodlee; and brother, George M. Woodlee.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 56 years, Daisy Ayers Woodlee of Covington; daughters and sons-in-law, Pennie and Robert Richter, Terri and Wade Knight, Dee and Johnny Owings all of Covington; 9 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Larry Allen of Blairsville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clark and Wynette Woodlee of Cummings, J.D. and Trice Woodlee of Grayson; mother-in-law, Ouida Ayers Moore of Conyers; sister-in-law, Nancy Holloway and her husband, Eddy; brothers-in-law, Eddie Ayers and his wife, Candy, Gary Ayers, Ricky Ayers and his wife, Wanda, Marty Ayers and his wife, Paula; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Woodlee will be held Monday, October 12, 2015, at 11:00 AM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Danny Standard and Pastor Cory Stevenson officiating and interment following in Green Meadow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, October 11, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM.
