Joseph H. "Joe" Sears

Joseph H. "Joe" Sears of Covington, passed away April 30, 2017, at 82 years of age. Equipped with a special talent and love for music, he was the Minister of Music at Newborn United Methodist Church for over 30 years. In addition, Joe retired from Newton County School System where he taught high-school English and Spanish. He was preceded in death by first wife, Carolyn (Campbell) Sears, second wife, Sarah (Day) Sears; and parents, Homer Holland and Annie (Smith) Sears.

Survivors include his step-son, Nathan Sears and his wife, June, of St. Petersburg, FL; granddaughter, Tammy Marie Cheek of Covington; sister-in-law, Florence Sears of Porterdale; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Funeral Service for Mr. Sears will be held Thursday, May 4, 2017, 2:00 PM, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, with Rev. CeCe Nickolich and Rev. John Donaldson officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family Thursday one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 - 2:00 PM.
