Josephine Hays

Floyd StreetJosephine Hays of Clayton, passed away March 28, 2011, at the age of 83. Ms. Hays attended the First United Methodist Church, in Covington, where she participated in various senior activities. She was a former member of the Covington Pilot Club, and was an avid reader. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Alma Hays Banks; parents, Hiram and Gracie (Johnson) Ellis; sisters, Geneva Moore and Geraldine Smith. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Anita Jo and Gary Deal of Clayton, GA; grandchildren, 2nd Lt. Eric Deal of Fort Leonard Wood, MO, 1st Lt. Drew Deal of Frederick, MD, Gracie Deal of Carrollton, GA; several nieces and nephews.A Graveside Service for Ms. Hays will be held Thursday, March 31, 2011, 4:00 PM, at Hays Family Cemetery, with Rev. Dr. Douglas Gilreath officiating. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd Street, Thursday, from 2:30-3:30 PM.
