Joyce Dale Mecca peacefully passed away June 18, 2018 at the age of 77, after a brave battle with cancer. A lifelong resident of Conyers, GA, Joyce was a graduate of Rockdale County High School. She was the Senior Chaplain of the Atlanta World War II Roundtable, as well as a Stephen Minister, leader and teacher who was also involved in Honor Flight of Conyers. In honor of Joyce, Brigadier General Rich McPhee will play ‘Amazing Grace' on the bagpipes during her funeral on June 23, 2018, 2:00 P.M., at Conyers First Methodist Church, 921 North Main Street. Joyce was a kind, loving person with a smile that could light up a room. She enjoyed reading, Native American history, flowers and had an avid love for animals. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Gladys McDonald; and sister, Carole McDonald Stephenson.
Joyce is survived by her husband and best friend, Pete Mecca; and daughters, Susan Hillman, Lisa Clay Tarleton and Lisa Mecca Brown; grandchildren, Matthew Tanner and girlfriend, Brooklynn Dossey, Rebecca Tanner, Cody Tarleton and partner Robert McGarity, Tara Menninger and husband, Jonathan; great-grandchildren, Violet Menninger, Wyatt Menninger; niece, Melody LeCount; honorary niece, Caron Pendleton; dearest friends, Bill LeCount, Kim Ahmed, Bobbi Hicks, and Midge McCullough; and fur babies, Sulee, Sniper, Huey, Twinkie, Hank, and sweet Lilly, who never left her side.
