Julius Thomas "J.T." Morgan of Covington, passed away March 3, 2017 at the age of 87. Mr. Morgan received his Bachelor's Degree from North Georgia College in 1950. Drafted into the Army in February of 1951, he obtained his pilot's license for artillery observation targets - flying 186 combat missions in only six months. Additionally, he was also a pilot for the Army Generals and Colonels as they negotiated a peace agreement, earning the privilege to observe their negotiations in Panmunjom. Always being civic minded, Mr. Morgan was a member of Toastmasters in Atlanta, as well as serving as a member of the Board of Realtors for DeKalb, Atlanta, and Rockdale County. He later received a certificate in Insurance and Real Estate Education from Georgia State College leading him into his career as owner/operator of Morgan Properties and Development Company. Additionally, Mr. Morgan was a very active member at Covington First United Methodist Church, as well as the Newton County Chamber of Commerce, and the Kiwanis Club. He also made time to participate on the Newton County Board of Realtors and the Zoning Review Committee for Newton County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Irene (Goddard) Morgan; brother, Max Morgan.

Survivors include his loving wife Nancy Morgan; step-daughters, Lynda Kinsaul of Covington, Cindy Lawson of Jacksonville, FL; step-son, Lee Lawson; grandchildren, Derek Kinsaul, Casey Tomberlin of Dothan, AL; two great-grandchildren; sister, Ethel Young; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Morgan will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2017, 2:00 PM, at Covington First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Dr. Doug Gilreath and Rev. Jan McCoy officiating and interment with Military Honors following in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery in Lithonia. Friends may visit with his family at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Monday, March 6, 2017, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.
