Katie Smith

Katie Smith, of Covington, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2019, at the age of 76. Mrs. Smith was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, in Oxford, and a former member of Callie Fuller Baptist Tabernacle. Her love of community and her outgoing personality led her to participate in various clubs such as the Covington Red Hat Society, The Eastern Star, and TOPS. Mrs. Smith's favorite hobbies were cooking, gardening and fishing, but perhaps her greatest joy was being with family, especially gathering and celebrating birthdays and holidays. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William E. Smith, Sr.; and second husband, Gordon C. Smith.

Mrs. Smith will be lovingly remembered by her daughters and son-in-law, Sabrina and Dan Wardell, Melinda Johnson; son and daughter-in-law, Buddy and Stefanie Smith; step-sons and their spouses, Jeff and Susan Smith, Tim and Connie Smith, Michael Smith; grandchildren, Kat, Katee, Maddie, Spencer, William; sister, Helen Ricks; brother and sister-in-law, Ellis and Mildred Ricks; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Smith will be held Thursday, October 3, 2019, 2:00 P.M., at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Jimmy Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park in Covington. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home Wednesday, October 2, from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M.
