Kelly Hegwood, adoring father, doting son and faithful brother, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at the age of 48. A lifelong resident of Covington, he devoted his time to his hometown while working as a dedicated employee of PRG Consulting and attended Newton Baptist Church and Eastridge Church. In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoyed golfing, playing darts, going to concerts – country and classic rock amongst his favorites, and he was an avid fan of the Georgia Dawgs! His fondest pastimes, however, were the family trips to Myrtle Beach. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Hegwood; and his nephew, Jordy Hegwood.
Those left to relish in the memories created are his daughters and son-in-law, Kimberly Hegwood, Taylor and Chance Phillips, Caleigh Hegwood; grandchildren, Chamber Phillips, Carter Phillips; mother, Patricia (Pat) Hegwood Gillespie and her husband, James; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mark and Annette Hegwood, Jeff and Cindy Hegwood, Gary and Tamie Hegwood; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Kelly’s life and legacy will be held Thursday, October 15, 2020, 11 AM, at Eastridge Church, 863 Highway 142, Covington, with Pastor Jeff Hegwood officiating and interment following in Zion Baptist Cemetery, 7037 Highway 212, in Covington.
