Larry Joe James

Larry Joe James, of Porterdale, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023, at the age of 67. Mr. James was a skilled craftsman that could build anything he set his mind to. He was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing. Mr. James loved corvettes and watching NASCAR, especially his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon. He took great joy in watching cowboy movies, listening to music, and playing his guitar. In times of relaxation, Mr. James liked going to Panama City Beach for vacation and enjoy a good drink. He treasured spending time with his friends and family and cherished the memories made with them. Mr. James was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Henry A. James and Louise “Mawmaw” James; brother and sister-in-law, Harold Henry James and Beverly Kay James; sister-in-law, Geraldine James; and nephews, Ronnie Gene James, Randy James.

He is survived by his brother, Bobby Gene James; sister, Martha Day (Larry); sons, Barry Joe James (Kristie), Carey Joe James (Amanda); grandchildren, Allison M. James, Joshua T. James, Sean Steven Chapman, Nevaeh Jade James, Nathan Joe James; 3 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and tons of friends.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help the family with funeral expenses.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
