Floyd StreetLaurie Emmett Miller of Covington, passed away July 7, 2010, at the age of 72. He was a member of County Line Baptist Church for 39 years, and loved his church family and friends dearly. Mr. Miller enjoyed fishing and traveling - especially on cruise ships or by bus. He loved people in general, and was a friend to all he met. Mr. Miller was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Charles Bishop; and parents, Emmett and Sara (Baker) Miller. Survivors include his loving wife, Jackie Miller of Covington; daughters and sons-in-law, Teri Duncan of Clovis, CA, Cheryl and David Eaton of Covington, Janet and Frankie Moss of Oxford, Darlene and Earl Winkles of Barnesville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lamar and Faye Miller, Dennis and Nancy Miller, all of Thomasville; granddaughters, Brandie Updegraff of California, Brittney Duncan, Ashley and Brandon Durand, all of Covington; grandsons, Chris Eaton of Covington, Carl and Bonnie Eaton of Stockbridge, Randy Loyd of Covington; great-grandchildren, Bradley Elgin and Madison Elgin, both of California, Brooklyn Durand of Covington, Carlimae Eaton of Stockbridge; brother-in-law, Donald, and his wife, Joyce Overstreet of Covington; 4 nieces, 2 nephews, and cousins. Funeral Services for Mr. Miller will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 9, 2010, at the Floyd Street Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd Street, with Rev. J. Clifton Brown and Dr. Ronny Barnes officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, July 8, 2010 from 6 - 8 PM.
