Lawrence Underwood

Access RoadLawrence Underwood of Newborn, passed away February 22, 2012, at the age of 67. Mr. Underwood was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a fan of the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, and the Georgia Bulldogs. He enjoyed Nascar racing, always cheering for Bill Elliott and Kasey Kahne. Mr. Underwood was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Carrie Lucille (Davis) Underwood.Survivors include his companion, Carolyn Boatwright of Lakeland, FL; daughters and son-in-law, Chrissy and Ray Prewitt of Newborn, Tammy West of Covington; sons and daughter-in-law, Rodney Underwood of Loganville, Justin and Jennifer Underwood of Rouses Point, NY; 8 granddaughters, Tina and Adam Parker of Covington, Carrie and David Long of Fayetteville, NC, Haylee West, Hannah West, Heidi West, all of Douglasville, Breanna Underwood, Samantha Underwood, both of Flowery Branch, Katelyn Underwood of Rouses Point, NY; 2 great-grandsons, Grayson Parker of Covington, Christopher Long of Fayetteville, NC; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie and John Shaw of Jackson, Florence and Rodney Dunn of Jasper, TX; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.Funeral Services for Mr. Underwood will be held Saturday, February 25, 2012, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Lawrence Burge officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, February 24, from 6:00-9:00 PM.
