Leonila Felicia Matos

Leonila Felicia Matos, of Covington, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at the age of 77. Mrs. Matos will forever be remembered as the best mother, grandmother, friend, and most loving woman that has ever walked this earth. There was nobody she met that did not instantly love her. Mrs. Matos became everyone’s mom and grandma in an instant. She was fire on the dance floor and in the kitchen. Mrs. Matos was preceded in death by her husband, Urbano Matos, Sr.; parents, Isidoro and Maria Blanco; sisters, Flor Hernandez, Victoria Zamora; brother, Pedro Blanco.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters and sons-in-law, Maria C. Matos, Marisol and Lupe Rojas, Doris and Sergio Vela; sons and daughters-in-law, Pedro and Gisela Matos, Jesus and Jamila Matos, Urbano, Jr., and Kenia Matos, Ulises, Sr., and April Hernandez; grandchildren and their spouses, Lory and Ciro Marquez, William Lorenzo, Ulises and Norma Hernandez, Reina Hernandez, Pedro Matos, Jr., Yesenia Matos, Steven and Lexi Hernandez, Alex and Elena Matos, Nickolas Matos, Lisa Hernandez, Giovanni and Destiny Matos, Brenda Vela, Benjamin Vela; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Georgiana Cabrera, Evangelina Oliva; brother and sister-in-law, Baldomero and Lourdes Blanco; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Private Funeral Service for Mrs. Matos will be held Saturday, January 23, 2021, 2:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington.

CDC guidelines recommend social distancing (6 feet apart) and wearing of masks while in public.  Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home requests that you observe these recommendations while in our funeral home attending visitations and/or services.  In addition, gatherings are limited to 50 persons or less in our facility at one time.  Please honor these restrictions for the safety of the family, yourself, and our staff.
