Leopoldo "Polo" Guerrero

Leopoldo "Polo" Guerrero of Covington, passed away August 8, 2018, at the age of 73. Mr. Guerrero was a native of Mexico before immigrating to the United States. He was proud to have been from both countries. Mr. Guerrero loved the Lord and delighted in His Word. He adored his church congregation at Iglesia Hispana El Calvario - a church he planted and served as pastor for over 30 years. Mr. Guerrero often shared his love of music by playing guitar and singing for his church family. He enjoyed the outdoors, traveling and fishing. As a sports fanatic, he enjoyed playing basketball and watching soccer and Georgia football. Mr. Guerrero was a family man who shared a special bond with his grandchildren and will be missed by all those who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gaspar and Luisa Guerrero; and sister, Oliva Guerrero.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Nancy Guerrero; daughter and son-in-law, Luisa and Matt Duren; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Stacy Guerrero; grandchildren, Elayna Guerrero, McKenzie Guerrero, Gabe Guerrero, Alyssa Guerrero, Rebekah Duren, David Duren, Andrew Duren, Judah Duren; siblings, Rosa Beam, Pedro Guerrero, Genaro Guerrero, Gaspar Guerrero, Pablo Guerrero, Armando Guerrero and Irma Guerrero-Martinez.

A Funeral Service for Mr. Guerrero will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018, 3:00 PM, at First Baptist Church, 1139 Usher Street NE, in Covington, with Pastor Larry Cheek officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park, in Covington. Friends may visit with the family at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, Friday, August 10, from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
