Lorraine Brown

Lorraine Brown, 96, passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, knowing that she would be in the presence of Jesus and reunited with her husband, J.S. and her beloved daughter, Nancy.

Lorraine was a sweet, kind, and gentle person who was devoted to her family. She would often express thankfulness for each day and for all God had given her. She supported her husband in his role as a pastor while taking care of her home and family. In addition to her commitment to her family, she also managed their rental properties for many years. She truly epitomized a Proverbs 31 woman. She was born in West Palm Beach, Florida and was a resident of Porterdale, GA and a member of Porterdale Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Rev. James S. Brown; daughter, Nancy C. Brown; parents, Fred and Leila Mercer; and four sisters.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen Wheeler (Jerry); son, Michael Brown (Barbara); grandchildren, Sharon Gilbert, Lisa Ferrell, Shane Brown, Chad Brown, Kelly Massucco; 15 great-grandchildren; 34 great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Brown will be held Friday, October 29, 2021, 12 Noon, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor David Wheeler officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home two hours prior to her service from 10:00 A.M. – 12 Noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Porterdale Baptist Church, P.O. Box 637, Porterdale, GA 30070.
