Louis H. Rambin, III, 73, loving husband, father and dear friend to all, died peacefully February 27, 2019, surrounded by his immediate family. In 2016, He was diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and in the spinal cord.
Louis was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned several medals, including a Bronze Star, CIB (Combat Infantry Badge), Presidential Citation, National Defense medal and Vietnam Service medal. He was a Sergeant in the Army's 1st Infantry's Division 1st Battalion, also known as the "Big Red One". The were the first infantry division to be deployed in Vietnam.
Louis was born in England, the son of Louis H. Rambin, II, and Irene P. Rambin. He grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, with his sister, Sharon. He attended Bass High School, where he made several lifelong friends and met the love of his life, Linda. Louis was a natural during his career in several sales-related jobs. He never met a stranger, loved to make others laugh, and he could always draw people in with his infectious smile. He retired to pursue his other passions - golfing, gardening and traveling. He also loved to watch the stock market, daily, and make trades - which he was still doing a week before he passed.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Linda Bergquist Rambin; son, Jeffrey Parry Rambin and his partner, Kelly Brown; sister, Sharon Phillips; sister-in-law, Vickie Franklin and her husband, Robert; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Mr. Rambin's life will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2019, 2:00 P.M., at First Baptist Church, 1139 Usher Street NE, in Covington, with Dr. Cody McNutt, Jeffrey Parry Rambin and Art Reynolds officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the church, prior to the service, from 12:00 Noon - 1:45 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church; or ALS Association, Georgia Chapter, 5881 Glenridge Dr. Suite 200, Atlanta, GA 30328.
