Loyd C. Edson, U.S. Navy Veteran, of Oxford, passed away January 2, 2011, at the age of 78. Mr. Edson was of the Baptist faith. He was a Bible school teacher with many nursing facilities in the Covington and Oxford areas. He enjoyed woodworking, and cutting out patterns and painting them. Mr. Edson loved his family dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Loyd Carlos Edson, Sr., and mother, Marian Grace (Nash) Miller; two sisters and two brothers. Survivors include his wife, Judith (McAmis) Edson of Oxford; sons, Gary Edson of Bristol, VA, Ronald Lewis Edson of Sword Creek, VA, Allen Edson, Jeffery Loyd Edson, both of Bristol, VA, Ronald Loyd Edson of Oxford, daughters, Karen Browder of Winston Salem, NC, Cathy Cooper of Bristol, VA; brother, Jim Abbott of Decatur; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Graveside Service for Mr. Edson will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2011, 2:00 PM, at Lawnwood Memorial Park, with Rev. Larry Cannon officiating.
