Lucinda Moseley Russell was born to the late Willis and Corrine Moseley in Decatur, Al on July 18, 1949. One of six siblings; her upbringing was full of love, laughter, close ties, and strong family traditions. Lucinda received her undergraduate degree in Social Economics from Alabama A&M University in 1971, then later earned her master’s degree in Urban Planning in 1973. She was a supply systems analyst by trade, but above all else she was devoted wife and mother at heart where she made her family the highest recipient of her time, love, and attention.
Some of Lucinda’s most proud achievements in life were the birth of her two children as well as the birth of her three beloved grandchildren. As an “expert” bargain shopper, one of her favorite activities was finding amazing gifts for her grandchildren for some of the most incredibly low prices ever seen. Her independence was of great importance to her, and it showed up no greater than when she chose to move from her long-time home in Lacey, WA to retire in Georgia in 2011 where she was able to spend the remainder of her extraordinary life with her children and grandchildren all in close proximity.
She was an incredible listener. Affectionately known as Momma Russell, she was the person you could call during your best times for those most genuine congratulations one could ever receive as well as during challenging moments where she would be the strong shoulder for you to cry on. Good luck keeping secrets from Momma Russell, as she held an innate ability to be fully in-tune with both your mood and spirit. Her strength, love, and perseverance were qualities to be admired and will continue to be exemplary pillars for her surviving family members for generations to come.
Lucinda is survived by her children, Michelle and Corey Russell (wife, Tamika Russell); her grandchildren, Ta’mia, Jaylen, and Jordan Russell; her sister; Jane Moseley Nocho; and her brother, Robert Moseley. She was proceeded in death by her sister, Murriel Moseley; her brothers; Willis and Russell Moseley; and her parents, Willis and Corrine Moseley.
A Memorial Service for Momma Russell will be held Saturday, July 16, 2022, 12:30 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, GA with Pastor Kevin Williams officiating.
