Marcelle Crosswell

Marcelle Crosswell, of Covington, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at the age of 95. Mrs. Crosswell was born and raised in Leesville, Louisiana, where she graduated from Leesville Highschool. After graduation, she and a friend moved to Atlanta where she met her loving husband of 61 years on a blind double date. Mrs. Crosswell was a member of Highpoint Baptist Church since 1970. She was a homemaker and owned a hair salon for many years, and also worked as the Clerk of Small Claims Court. Mrs. Crosswell was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Thomas Crosswell, Sr.; parents, Edward and Sallie Mayo; brothers, Claude Mayo, Alwin Mayo, and Elmer Mayo.

She is survived by her daughters, Mae Elizabeth Whitworth, Linda Frances Simmons; sons, John Thomas Crosswell, Jr. (Gwen), James Mayo Crosswell; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Crosswell will be held Sunday, July 9, 2023, 2:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Steven Adams officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday, July 8, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
