Martha Baxter

Martha Baxter, of Covington, passed away Friday, May 28, 2021, at the age of 67. Ms. Baxter was a one-of-kind, loving woman who was always smiling. She was a people person and liked to talk to and would call you anytime of the day or night. Ms. Baxter enjoyed a lot of things in life such as shopping, tubing, cooking, and doing puzzles and crossword searches. In addition, she liked to collect lighthouses and knickknacks, and was creative when it came to crocheting and knitting. Ms. Baxter also enjoyed traveling to the mountains, watching the Braves, MASH, and Dr. Who, and playing video games. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Christy Baxter; parents, Billy and Rosey Baxter.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Billy New, Trent New, Destiny New; Great-grandchildren, Dylan Drake, Nathan Marcus, Jaydon Andrew, Olivia Kate, Violet Ruth; as well as other loving family members.

A Funeral Service for Ms. Baxter will be held Thursday, June 3, 4:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Dwight Moody officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family two hours prior to her service, from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to help the family with funeral expenses.

Governor Brian Kemp’s latest executive order has eliminated restrictions on large gatherings; however, CDC guidelines recommend social distancing (6 feet apart) and wearing of masks while in public.  Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home requests that you observe these recommendations while in our funeral home attending visitations and/or services.
