Martin Hunt Miley entered the presence of his Savior and Lord on Monday, October 10, 2011. He was born in Atlanta, GA, April 3, 1951. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry W. Miley, Sr. and Mary Hunt Miley, and parents-in-law, Karl and Marian Wooster.
Martin was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, teacher, and friend. He was an excellent example of a Godly man. His enduring faith, humor, laughter, gentleness, and incredible love for his family will always be remembered.
Martin graduated from Northside High School in Atlanta. He attended the Georgia Institute of Technology and received his undergraduate degree from Georgia State University. He received his Master's degree from Grand Canyon University. Martin taught for Georgia Piedmont Technical College and Paragon Cooperative Learning Academy and tutored high school math. As the father of 3 Eagle Scouts, Martin had been very active in the Scouting community, particularly BSA Troop 222.
Surviving are his sweetheart and wife of 35 years, Karen Wooster Miley of Covington; loving sons and daughter-in-law, Paul Martin and Allison Miley of Forsyth, Jared Wooster Miley of Atlanta, Jonathan Hunt Miley of Covington; granddaughter, Calah Gail Miley; grandson, Garrett Martin Miley; sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Bob Bray of Canton; brother, Harry W. Miley, Jr. of Columbia, SC; several nieces, nephews, and many extended family.
On Saturday, October 15, 2011, the family will receive friends at 1:00 P.M. followed by a celebration of Martin's life at 3:00 P.M. at Eastridge Community Church, Highway 142, Covington, GA. Friends and family are invited for worship, celebration and sharing. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Eastridge Community Church, 863 Highway 142 East, Covington, GA 30014, or Salem United Methodist Church, 3962 Salem Road, Covington, GA 30016.
