Marvin Eugene (Gene-O) Johnson

Marvin Eugene (Gene-O) Johnson, of Social Circle, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2020, at the age of 72. Gene-O’s many talents and skills afforded him unique opportunities in both work and play. He was skilled in building and creating things, and as a prop maker for the movie industry under IATSE Local 479, he could bring to life anything imaginable. Gene-O was also passionate about cooking and was the founder of Gene-O Brands barbeque sauces and jams – taking his tasty creations to various festivals and craft shows. He lived life to the fullest and was happiest when surrounded by those he loved, cooking and entertaining. Gene-O will long be remembered for his open and loving heart and his warm spirit. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Marvin and Corrine Johnson.

Left to carry on in his memory is wife, Nancy Lugene "Genie" Johnson; daughter and son-in-law, Brandy and Scott Weaver; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Eugene Johnson, Scottie and  Bean Johnson, Cole Johnson and Kat Smart; step-sons and their spouses, Craig and Brandy Timmons, Michael and Lynn  Hammonds; grandchildren, Chandler Johnson, Bailey Johnson, Rowan Johnson, Shintaro Johnson, Takuma Johnson, Marika Johnson, Kaden Johnson, Jordan Weaver, Pierce Johnson, Mason Johnson, Skyler Harper, Madison Harper, Annalise Timmons, Maggie Timmons; sisters and brothers-in-law, Laura and Randy Eller, Cindy and Andy Stubbs, Sharri and Ronnie Truelove; brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Diane Johnson, Tony and Denise Johnson; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends; as well as dear friends, Larry Payton Sr., and Lee Merritt.

A memorial service for Gene-O will be held at a later date.
