Mary Annette Durden passed away February 10, 2013 at her home in Sparta, GA. She was 75 years of age at the time of her death. Mrs. Durden enjoyed having and going to yard sales, working in her flower garden, and watching Nascar. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend to many. Mrs. Durden was preceded in death by daughters, Diane Brown, Donna Thompson; son, Eddie Brown; granddaughter, Ann Sigman; grandson, Daniel Thompson; and parents; Joseph Griffin and Louise (Sorrells) Baker.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Durden of Sparta; daughters and son-in-law, Pam Snyder of Lexington, SC, Lisa Smith of Monroe, Mary Jo and Mathew Duplisea of Edgefield, SC; sons and daughter-in-law, Archie Brown of Covington, Wayne Brown of Gainesville, Glen and Elaina Sigman of Newnan; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Betty Jo Ownsby of Covington; brothers and sister-in-law, Donald Baker of Conyers, Fred and Peggy Baker of Covington; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Durden will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 13, 2013 in the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 3134 Floyd Street, in Covington, with Dr. R. Hudson Moody and Dr. David Moody officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, February 12, from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M.
