Mary Lou Deerman

Mary Lou Thomas Deerman, 80, was born November 30, 1942, and passed away on December 1, 2022. She retired from Sears Roebuck Company and worked many years at Southern Bell. She was preceded in death by the love of her life Ross Deerman, parents Ansel and Ozella Thomas, sister Reba Gilbert, brothers Rex and Gary Thomas, nephews David and Tim Loyd, Wayne and Tony Deerman, and lifelong friend, Joann Smart.

She is survived by her son Michael Deerman; grandsons Chris and Joseph Deerman; great-grandchildren Damien, Caelynn, and Hunter; niece Renee (Ricky) Hill; chosen son Greg (Lori) Dial; sister Vicki (Trent) White; brother Steve (Elaine) Thomas; sister in laws Shelby and Ann Deerman, Ann and Karen Thomas; aunts Jean Edwards, Kathryn Thomas, and a host of nieces and nephews.

She enjoyed traveling with Ross and friends, fishing on the lake, helping anyone in the family who had a need, working in her yard, painting, playing cards, and visiting casinos. Mary made many lifelong friends during her time at Sears.

The family will receive guest for visitation Sunday, December 4, 2022, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Collier-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services, 824 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, Alabama 35901.

Funeral Services will be Monday, December 5, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, Georgia 30015. Visitation will be prior to the service at 1:00 pm. Burial will be at Lawnwood Memorial Park. Dr. David Moody will officiate.
