Mary Beatrice "Bea" Brewer Stanley

Mary Beatrice “Bea” Brewer Stanley, age 94, of Ellijay, Georgia passed away peacefully on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Parkside Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center in Ellijay, GA. She was born in Madison, GA on September 28, 1928, the daughter of the late W Gordon and Mary Alice Brewer. Bea was married for 63 years to James B “Jack” Stanley, Jr, before he passed in 2012. Bea was predeceased by two brothers, William G. "Billy" Brewer, Jr., and Robert James "Bobby" Brewer, of Madison, Georgia. She is survived by 2 daughters and 1 son, Janice S Blanchard (Bill) of Ellijay, GA, Annette “Gail” Swift of Dublin, GA, and James “Jim” Stanley (Lillian) of King, NC.

Bea is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Jacob Stanley, Amanda VanHook, Melody Joyner, Krista Evans, Jonathan Stanley, Nikki Dingess, Ira Blanchard and Schuyler Blanchard. She is survived by 4 great grandchildren, Kiersten Stanley, Karter Stanley, Raleigh Joyner and Raegan Dingess; with a fifth on the way.

Bea graduated from Madison High School and attended the University of Georgia at Athens. She worked at several banks as a teller in the early years and then became a fulltime mother and homemaker, a very gifted cook and devoted caregiver to many family members and friends. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards or Rummikub, Sudoku puzzles (in ink!), observing the abundance of wildlife at her mountain home, and spending time with family and friends.

The family will receive visitors on Saturday, July 1, 2023, from 11 – 12:30pm at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Rd, Covington, GA 30014 and a funeral service will immediately follow at approx. 1:30 at Bethany Baptist Church, 1080 Bethany Church Rd, Madison, GA 30650.
