Mary Strozier Arnold of Katy, TX, died February 23, 2023. Mary Bo, as she was known by her family, was born in Oxford, Ga to the late Walton and Mary Nell Strozier. She attended both Emory University and the University of Georgia where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Math. With this foundation, she taught high school math for years in Georgia and Texas, educating and connecting with hundreds of students who stayed in touch for many years, even well into her retirement.
At the University of Georgia, she met the love of her life, Dan Arnold, affectionately known to many as Mac. Married in 1961, Mary Bo and Mac eventually relocated to Katy, TX where she continued her teaching career as Mac worked for numerous companies leveraging his background in nuclear physics. It was in Texas that Mary Bo and Mac’s daughter, Kimberly, was born. Together, they were a family who had a joy for life and a sense of humor that was unmatched.
Mary Bo is pre-deceased by her husband, Mac, in 2018 as well as her daughter, Kim, in 2019, and is survived by her sister, Dr. Nelle Strozier Moseley, her nephew, Dr. Walton Strozier Moseley, and her niece, Nelle Moseley Schantz.
A graveside service for Mary Strozier Arnold will be held Saturday, June 10, 2023 at the Oxford Historical Cemetery, in Oxford, Georgia, with Rev. Thomas W. Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the E. Walton Strozier Scholarship, c/o Oxford College of Emory University - Financial Aid Office, 801 Emory Street, Oxford, GA 30054 or the Alzheimer’s Association online at alz.org.
