Matt Stephenson of Monticello, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at the age of 35. Matt’s passion for being outdoors hunting, fishing, camping and looking for arrowheads, brought him many hours of happiness. He had an artistic ability and enjoyed drawing and woodburning. Matt was known to everyone around him for being a hard worker, respectful and someone who you could always count on to “have your back”. His family and grandparents meant the world to him – especially his children who looked up to him as their superhero. Matt was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Judy Clark.
Survivors include his sons, Matthew Guy Stephenson, Jr., Brently Clark Stephenson, Mason Gauge Stephenson; step-daughter, McKenzii Aduska Robinette; parents, Angela and Tim Stinchcomb, Larry Stephenson; sister, Brittany Gilstrap; brother, Joey Lee Stephenson; maternal grandfather, Larry G. Clark; paternal grandparents, Jimmy and Mary Stephenson; as well as Matt’s true love, Kaylee Wood.
A Funeral Service for Matt will be held Friday, July 24, 2020, 11:00 A.M., at Higher Praise Tabernacle, 3915 Highway 162, in Covington, with Pastor Harold Clark and Pastor Kenneth Morrell officiating. Interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family at the church, one hour prior to his service, from 10:00 -11:00 A.M.
