Mattie Lou Shepherd of Covington, passed away August 11, 2015, at the age of 85. Mrs. Shepherd was an active member of Cornish Mountain Baptist Church. Her favorite pastimes included reading, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family whom she dearly loved. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Hugh Shepherd; and her parents, Fairest Jones and Lelah Jones.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Sherry Shepherd of Watkinsville, Marty and Debbie Shepherd of Oxford; grandchildren, Brad Shepherd, David Shepherd, Lauren Shepherd Kerr; great-grandchildren, Emory Shepherd, John Parker Shepherd, Lorelei Kerr, Emmaline Grace Kerr; sisters, Inez Adamson, Gloria Chamlee; brother, Carl Jones; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Shepherd will be held Friday, August 14, 2015, 11:00 AM, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Butch Davis and Rev. Jerry Barrett officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday, August 13, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Flowers are accepted or donations in her memory may be made to Cornish Mountain Baptist Church, 1089 Cornish Mountain Church, Road, Oxford, GA 30054.
