Melvin Patrick Lazenby

Access RoadMelvin Patrick Lazenby of Porterdale, passed away September 30, 2012, at the age of 73. Mr. Lazenby was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of The Baptist Tabernacle, in Covington, and retired from Mobil Chemical after 35 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and flower gardening. Mr. Lazenby was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Allie Davenport; parents, Melvin Hubert and Emma Ruth (Johnson) Lazenby; sisters, Juanita (Anita) Cantwell and Judy Martin.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Peggy Lazenby of Porterdale; daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Tim Davenport of Covington, Beth and Gary Mason of Jackson; granddaughters, Olivia and Zachary Schroeder of Conyers, Megan Mason, Tori Mason, Sara Mason, all of Jackson; sister and brothers-in-law, Gloria and Joe Jenkins of Hollywood, MD, Joe Martin of Oxford; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Pat Lazenby, Wayne and Cathy Lazenby, all of Covington; special friends, Curtis Davenport and Ms. Kate Davis; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.Funeral Services for Mr. Lazenby will be held Wednesday, October 3, 2012, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Tim Davenport officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, October 2, from 6:00-8:00 PM.
