Michael E. La Follette

Michael E. La Follette of Social Circle died December 31, 2010, at the age of 66.  The son of the late Roy W. and Irene Henry La Follette, he was a 1967 graduate of the University of Arkansas with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering.  Mr. La Follette was employed by Hercules beginning in June of 1967 in Olathe, KS, subsequently working in plants in Maryland and in Covington, GA, and retiring in July of 1997.  He was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing baseball and loved vegetable and flower gardening.  An excellent carpenter, he worked with his uncle building houses to earn money for college. Mr. La Follette is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lynda La Follette; his children, Scott Haney of Covington, Jon La Follette of Eugene, OR, Jan La Follette of Greensboro, NC, Shari Thompson of Atlanta, and Shane and Lisa Haney, also of Covington; his five grandchildren, Andrea Haney, Cody Thompson, Presley Haney, Rylan Haney and Zane La Follette; his sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Gary Elkins of Natural Dam, AR; and several nieces and nephews. A public visitation for family and friends was held from 4:00 until 6:00 PM, Sunday, January 2, 2011, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington.  No service time has been scheduled.
