Mildred Dolores Arnold, of Oxford, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023, at the age of 93.  She was born in Lafayette, Georgia, on May 9, 1930. Dolores was the daughter of Vernard Wilson and Mary Goodrum.

Dolores was a devoted loving mother to her daughter and step-children and her step-grandchildren. She was married to Frank H. Arnold. She was devoted to living on a farm for 40 years and working in her community to help out when needed. Dolores worked at the Newton High School Cafeteria for 6 years serving chili for the school kids. And they called her Chili Queen. When she was in town they would herd out “Chili Queen”. Dolores was raised in a Christian family by three women in the Church of Christ in Lafayette, Georgia, where she grew up. Dolores loved her animals, especially her guinea pig and her dogs. And talking to her friends and her best friend, Imogene Teague.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank H. Arnold; step-daughter, Josephine Jackson; parents, Vernard Wilson and Mary Goodrum.

Survivors include her daughter, Nancy G. Arnold (Mason Pridgen); stepchildren, Emily Theresia Arnold, Julia Yoki (Bill), Wandalene Arnold, Christina McCormick (Bill), Frank H. Arnold, Jr. (Mary Lou), Tom Arnold (Lucy); son-in-law, Bill Jackson; step-grandchildren, Craig Arnold (Christie), Judy Beth Arnold McGuire (Jimmy), Todd Jackson (Kallie), Carrie Scruggs (Lanier), Jennifer Yoki, William McCormick, Carl McCormick; step-great-grandchildren, Jason Arnold, Kent Arnold, Will Jackson, Kate Jackson, Henry Scruggs, Lewis Scruggs, Jackson Scruggs, Grace McGuire, Hatcher McGuire, Matthew McGuire, Isaac Traore, Tyja Traore; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; friend most of life, Imogene and Earnest Teague.

A Graveside Service for Mrs. Arnold will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023, 11:00 A.M., at Decatur City Cemetery, 299 Bell Street, in Decatur.
