Milton Gregory Gerlach,

Access RoadMilton Gregory Gerlach, Jr., of Social Circle, passed away July 2, 2010, at the age of 87. Mr. Gerlach, an Army veteran, received several medals while serving his country during World War II, including a good conduct medal, a victory medal, three bronze stars, and a purple heart. He was a loving husband and father. Mr. Gerlach was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Evelyn (Akins) Gerlach; and parents, Milton Gregory Sr., and Lily Mae (Averett) Gerlach. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Marty Evans of Chicago, IL; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Leigh Ann Gerlach of Buford, Greg and Linda Gerlach of Conyers;grandchildren, Richard Evans, April Morris, Wayne Gerlach and Deanne Bass, Kimi and Jason Chance, Chris and Carla Gerlach; great-grandchildren, Andrew Gerlach, Brian Boggs, Katelyn Morris, Cheyenne Morris, Logan Gerlach, Evan Gerlach, and Charlie Gerlach. A Memorial Service for Mr. Gerlach will be held Thursday, July 8, 2010, 11:00 AM, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington. The family will receive friends Thursday, from 10-11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Abbey Hospice, 215 Azalea Farm Dr., Social Circle, GA 30025; or VFW Post 2938, John O.
