Ollie Matson Leacock, born Thursday August 1, 1963, in New Amsterdam, Guyana, died peacefully surrounded by his family and extended family members on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at Emory Midtown Hospital in Atlanta, GA., at the age of 56.
He was the beloved and devoted husband to Diane, caring father to Natalya & Bradley. Ollie was preceded by his loving father, Randolph; brother, Goffrey, son of Elaine; he is survived by his cherished mother Elaine, sisters and brothers, Hattie-Mae, Gregory, Sherlene, & Otto.
Ollie attended Berbice High School, and worked for National Insurance Scheme, New Amsterdam Branch. He would move to Tortola, British Virgin Island, and eventually, The United States, where he settled in Covington (sub-urban Atlanta), and raised a loving family, while tending to a successful accounting practice.
Among other things, Ollie was known for taking long road trips with his family, and friends; for caring and unwavering support for his family (often reserved and with an unassuming demeanor); an exquisite culinary appetite; and love for reading and an avid sports fanatic.
Ollie will be sadly missed by his wife and children, mom, siblings, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, many friends, as well as colleagues.
A Funeral Service for Ollie will be held Thursday, March 12, 2020, 3:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family, two hours prior to his service service, from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M.
The family of the late Ollie M. Leacock wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Emory Midtown which provided him such exceptional care; as well as family, friends and well-wishers for the outpouring of love, support and sympathy during their time of grief.
Gone but not forgotten.
