Ollie Smith

Access RoadMrs. Ollie Smith of Conyers, passed away September 30, 2011, at the age of 75. Mrs. Smith was a member of Zion Baptist Church where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School when she was younger. She also enjoyed football, baseball, and NASCAR; and loved both the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves. She was a poll manager, and worked elections, in Conyers, for over 20 years. Mrs. Smith was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She loved her family dearly, and especially loved spending time with all the children in her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jonas Monroe, Sr., and Nellie Grace (Fleming) Smith.Survivors include her husband, Jerry David Smith, Sr.; son, Jerry David Smith, Jr., both of Conyers; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jonas Monroe, Jr., and Doris Smith of Leesburg, FL, Sidney Ray and Jennie Smith of Roanoke, VA; niece and spouse, Lyn Katherine and Nathenal Gay of Roanoke, VA, nephews, Jeffrey Monroe and Dara Smith of Oviedo, FL, Matthew Monroe and Liz Smith of Seattle, WA, James Gregory Smith of the US Army; several great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral Services for Mrs. Smith will be held Monday, October 3, 2011, 11:00 AM, at Zion Baptist Church, with Rev. Reese Sanders officiating, and interment following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Sunday, October 2, from 3-5 PM.
