Ollie Violet Lackey Young

Floyd StreetOllie Violet Lackey Young of Covington, passed away April 5, 2010, at the age of 87. Although a native of Rockdale County, Mrs. Young has resided in Covington since 1945. She was a very active member of Belmont Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. Mrs. Young loved sewing and quilting, but most important to her was her family and church. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.T. Young, Sr.; and her parents, Robert Denton and Lilla Lee (Walden) Lackey. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dick Pratt; sons and daughter-in-law, Charles Tally Young, Donald N. and Ardis Young, all of Covington; grandchildren, Keeva and Scott Henderson, Marissa and Will Hunter, Richard and Neely Pratt, Karyl E. Boyd, Adam Young; great-grandchildren, Matthew Henderson, Cadyn Boyd, Sophia Hunter; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mrs. Young will be held Wednesday, April 7, 2010, 2:00 PM, at Belmont Baptist Church, with Rev. Nolan Jackson, Sr. and Rev. Nolan Jackson, Jr. officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 6, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd St., in Covington, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.
