Mrs. Ophelia H. Davenport of Covington died August 27, 2011 at the age of 68. She was born in Locust Grove, Ga., to the late Everette Elra and Willie Grace Singley Henderson. She was a well respected and faithful charter member of Grace Baptist Church in McDonough. After her retirement from Simmons Manufacturing, with 28 years of service, she divided her time between her family, church family and tending to her flower garden. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She is preceded in death by granddaughter, Allie Davenport; sister, Louise Wheeler; brother, John E. Henderson.
Ophelia is survived by her husband, Curtis C. Davenport of Covington; daughters and son-in-law, Elaine Owens, Wanda Mitchell all of Covington, Gale and Lane Britt of Social Circle; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Gwen Davenport of Mansfield, Tim and Cindy Davenport of Covington; grandchildren, Ciara, Brandon, Kerry, Candace, Ashley, Alyssa, Chris, Jessica, Zach, Olivia, Sharlie, Courtney; great-grandchildren, Cami, Hallie, Hayden; sisters, Betty and Rachel; brothers, Cecil, Herman, Carlton and Nathan; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; best friend, Jimmy Brown.
Funeral Services for Ophelia will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2011, 2:00 P.M. at Grace Baptist Church in McDonough with Pastor Zack Nipper officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park, Covington. The family will receive friends at the Access Road location of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home on Monday, August 29, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.
