Polly Milligan, of Covington, passed away Monday, June 12, 2023, at the age of 83. Mrs. Milligan earned her Master’s degree in Education from the University of Georgia and focused mainly on middle school language arts. She taught for 13 years at George Walton Academy in Monroe and finished her career in Rockdale and Henry Counties. She enjoyed shopping with her friends and was known to make the best banana pudding. Polly helped start East Newton Baptist Church where she was a member, taught Sunday School and played piano. She was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, church, and community. She shared the love of Jesus with all who knew her and is now in the loving arms of her Savior. Mrs. Milligan loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Hugh and Janie Latham.
Survivors include her loving husband of 61 years, James “Jay” Milligan; daughter, Michelle DeAnn; son, Michael Milligan (Pamela); grandchildren, Taylor Bishop, Jacob Bishop; sister, Jackie Lindsey; as well as other loving family members.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Milligan will be held Thursday, June 15, 2023, 2:00 P.M., at East Newton Baptist Church 11290 Highway 278, in Covington, with Pastor Danny Sorrels officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park, 1111 Access Road, in Covington. Friends are invited to visit with the family Wednesday, June 14, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington.
