Ralph Shepard, cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Oxford on February 23, at the age of 87. Born on August 29, 1937 in Clearwater, Florida, Ralph embodied a life of commitment, love and service.
Ralph dedicated 9 years of his early adulthood to serving in the National Guard, reflecting a strong sense of duty and patriotism. He retired from working at the Atlanta Journal Constitution for more than 30 years. In a life spanning nearly nine decades, one of Ralph's most enduring accomplishments was his marriage and family with Judy Shepard, which lasted for 52 years until she sadly predeceased him. Their life together was a testament to love, mutual respect, and steadfast companionship.
Surviving him are his four children: Kelly Holcomb, Covington: Karrie Adams, Oxford; Keith Shepard, Covington; and Kevin Shepard from Oxford. Grandchildren: Tyler Shepard, Social Circle: DJ Holcomb, Clearwater, Floride; Jessica Knight, Social Circle; Tori Burgdorf, Youth; Tiffany Wagner, McDonough; Amber Pruitt, Cleveland; Chandler Shepard, Oxford; and Abby Harrison. Ralph was blessed to enjoy 24 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 12:00 P.M. at the Chapel of Caldwell and Cowan funeral home. He will be laid to rest beside his wife, Judy, at Corinth Christian Cemetery in Loganville, GA. The family will be receiving friends an 2 hours prior from 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M.
