Access RoadRamona Alice Grissom of Shady Dale, passed away August 3, 2010, at the age of 79. Mrs. Grissom was very active in Westminster,South Carolina, politics - becoming the first woman elected to serve on the town council; and was appointed to the State Reorganization Committee by the governor of South Carolina. She was very active in community service, and was a founding member of the Oconee Aid Society in South Carolina. She enjoyed golfing, bridge, solitaire, and doing puzzles. She served in the pastor's fund here in Covington, as well as working with Faith Works. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 25 years, SMSgt William Grissom; and her parents, Malcolm and Willie Maude (Smith) Collins. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Janeann and Benny Lanning of Shady Dale, GA, Barbara and Bobby Alexander of Azle, TX, Saundra and Jeff Uhlott of Rantoul, IL; granddaughter, Crystal, and her husband, Scott Ledwith of Dacula, GA; grandsons, Scott Uhlott, Mark Uhlott, both of Rantoul, IL; great-grandson, Carter Ledwith of Dacula, GA; sisters, Evelyn Ellerbee of Preston, GA, Barbara Martin of Anderson, SC; brother and sister-in-law, William and Nancy Collins of NC; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Service for Mrs. Grissom will be held Sunday, August 8, 2010, 2:00 PM, at Covington First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Dr. Douglas Gilreath officiating.
