Raymond J. Cook

Raymond J. Cook of Covington, passed away December 21, 2014, at the age of 90. Mr. Cook proudly served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed woodworking, and as a result he owned his own construction business and built many homes in the Newton County area. Additionally, he liked spending time outdoors camping and fishing. Mr. Cook was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather; and was an excellent provider for his family. He was loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Frances Cook; and his parents, Raymond and Dovie (Thaxton) Cook.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Stan and Peggy Cook, Gary and Brenda Cook, Frank and Vickie Cook, Marty and Stacey Cook, all of Covington; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Cook will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2014, 11:00 AM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Darrell Payne and Rev. Robert Nash officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 - 11:00 AM.
