Raymond Harold Mcclurg

Mr. Raymond Harold McClurg of Social Circle died on May 15, 2011 at Abbey Hospice at the age of 79. He was born in Texas to the late Thomas Raymond and Bertha Novelle Helms McClurg. Raymond was a U. S. Army veteran serving in Germany and was part of the Counter Intelligence Corp. for 3 years. He was a career employee of the U.S. Postal Service and retired as Postal Inspector of 20 years, and was also a member of the retired Postal Inspectors Organization. An avid woodworker, he built furniture and made gifts such as wooden cars and trucks. Raymond was a Dallas Cowboy fan, enjoyed gardening and will be remembered as having a wonderful sense of humor.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Bernice Johnson McClurg of Social Circle, children and spouses, Denise and Steve Perkins of Social Circle, Becky and Neil Poling of San Francisco, CA, Carolyn and Larry Frederick of Snellville, Mark and Lisa McClurg of Duluth, Tricia and Jamie Shull of Elgin, SC; ten grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mr. McClurg will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, 11:00 A.M. at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington with Rev. Alan Morris officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 from 10:00 until 11:00 AM.
