Rebie Wilson Johnson, of Covington, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024, at the age of 79. Mr. Johnson proudly served as Fire Chief at the Newton County Fire Department for 30 years and was a dedicated member of High Point Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors, deer hunting, and fishing. Mr. Johnson was an honest, dependable, and a very servant-minded man who would always lend a hand to anyone who needed help. He loved his family and was a loving man – he enjoyed joking with his wife and talking to his brother on the phone. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Maggie Johnson; and brother, Raymond Johnson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Linda Johnson; nephew, Rodney Johnson (Tori); niece, Lisa Cole (David); sister-in-law, Mary Ann Johnson; great-nieces and great-nephews, Sam Johnson (Anna), and Michaela Cole.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Johnson will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2024, 3:00 P.M., at High Point Baptist Church, 12025 Highway 36, in Covington, with Pastor David Marshall, and Pastor Steven Adams officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park, 1111 Access Road, in Covington. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the church, two hours prior to his service, from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M.
