REVEREND REGINALD COLEMAN HENRY, “Pastor Reg”, 72, passed away Monday, February 21st 2022 from natural causes at his country home in Covington, Georgia. Born in Porterdale, GA on February 10 1950, Reginald was a Newton County native. He was a member of the Newton County High School Class of 1969 and a ranking member of the Newton County Blue Rambler Band. After high school, he went on to DeKalb Technical College where he graduated with a degree in Architectural Design.

He found his true calling and passion in the funeral services industry working at Caldwell and Cowan Funeral Home in Covington. He went on to graduate Summa Cum Laud from Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science and in 1974 became a member by invitation into Pi Sigma Eta Scholastic Honors Fraternity, Theta Chapter. In that same year, he obtained his State of Georgia Embalmer and Funeral Director license with National Board Certification; he held those credentials until the time of his death. He was an Emeritus Member of the Academy of Graduate Embalmers of Georgia, Inc. While working at Caldwell and Cowan, Reggie met his loving wife of 50 years Vickie Bowen.

During the 80’s, he worked at Harry L White Funeral Home in Conyers, GA (his wife’s family business) and attended Beulah Heights Bible College and completed a certificate at Berean Bible College associated with the Assemblies of God. He went on to graduate from Southeastern University of Lakeland, Florida, Magna Cum Laud with a Bachelor's Degree in Science, emphasis on Christian Studies. He was accepted into the Master’s program.

He was a Senior Retired Ordained Minister with the Assemblies of God and was an FCC Technician level for VHF and UHF manual radio operator with a call sign assigned KK4WTA. For over eleven years Reginald served as special deputy to Rockdale County Sheriff’s Department under Sheriff J.T. Wallace.

Pastor Reg served God for over 35 years in Christian Ministry—as head of the Altar Ministry, Pastoral Care, Visitation and Christian Education at the Assembly of God Tabernacle in Decatur, GA. Later, he served as a Bible teacher at The Praise Center in Monroe, GA –with the last 7 years of his ministry serving as counselor, teacher and Pastor for Teen Challenge in Atlanta, GA.

Mr. Henry was a life-long student who enjoyed fishing and sharing God’s Word. He was preceded in death by his parents J. Coleman Henry and Opal Kitchens Henry and sister, Janice Colleen Henry. He is survived by his wife, Vickie Bowen Henry of Covington, son, Ashley Spencer Henry (Rev. Philadelphia Henry) and granddaughter, Ada Henry, of Jefferson; brother-in-law, Chris Bowen (Andrea Bowen) of Eatonton; two aunts—Beverly Henry Hardegree and Elaine Henry Pulliam (Dr. Michael Pulliam) of Covington, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At a future date, a Celebration of Life Service will be held at High Point Baptist in Covington, GA to honor the life and legacy of “Pastor Reg” Henry.
