Rex Marshall Lane,

November 14, 1945 — March 26, 2011

Mr. Rex Marshall Lane, Sr. of Covington passed away at Newton Medical Center on March 26, 2011 at the age of 65. He was born in Porterdale to the late Horace and Betty Grace "Palmer" Lane and was a life long resident of Newton County. Rex was an active member of Harvest Baptist Church where he helped with the church food bank. He loved music and sang with his wife at church. Rex enjoyed working on computers in his spare time. He will be remembered for having a wonderful sense of humor, loving to joke with people, and for being a big hearted man, always willing to help others. He loved his family and was a great father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
Rex is survived by his loving wife, Rosetta Lane of Covington; children, Rex Lane, Jr., and wife Jo of Rutledge, Scott Lane of Morgan Co., Mark Lane and wife Stacey of Social Circle, Shelly Acres and husband Jeff of Morgan Co., Chris Reynolds of Conyers; 17 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; close family members, George and Vena Barnett, Hoyt and Helen Barnett, James T. Wilson all of Covington, Frances and Ralph Hilliard of Oxford, Pat Ballard of Covington; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, 2:00 P.M. at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan funeral home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, with Rev. Richard Culpepper and Rev. Dean Dawson officiating with interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 from the hours of 7:00 and 9:00 P.M. Flowers are accepted or love offerings may be made to the Lane family.
