Richard Wayne Dimsdale Sr., known affectionately as Wayne to his friends and family, passed away on February 2, 2024, at the age of 76. Born on February 9, 1947, in the close-knit community of Porterdale, Georgia. The son of Myrtle and Jesse Dimsdale, Wayne was a dedicated family man, a pillar in his community, and a beacon of creativity. His beloved wife, Kathy Lynn Dimsdale, predeceased him, but their love story continued to inspire those around them. He will be greatly missed by his children, Jaclyn and Justin Myers, Ali and Jason Geigerman, Tessa and Mark Mann, and his son, Richard and Karen Dimsdale. His grandchildren, Lane, Case, Locke, Bowie, Blakely, Logan, Christoper, and Lindsey, will remember him as a guiding light who cherished every moment he could spend with them. Wayne left a lasting imprint through his service on the Walnut Grove City Council, where he served with dedication for over 20 years. His passion and commitment to the community he loved were unmistakable. Wayne's love for music shone brightly as he was inducted into the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame in November 2018, a testament to his talent and artistry. As the drummer for the Wildfire Band and the Archmen Band, his rhythms were the heartbeat of many melodies. Wayne's life was a symphony of love, kindness, and creativity. He filled every room with music, whether performing on stage, singing karaoke, or simply sharing his gifts with friends and family. Fishing on the dock at his lake house, capturing the world on canvas, and being the life of the party were just a few ways he expressed his zest for life. Wayne's legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him, and his story will continue to be sung with every note of music played in his memory.
